This year marks 20 years since I put scissors to paper for the first time. Countless hours have been spent sitting by myself and cutting and developing different paper-cutting universes.
It has been great to be able to find peace and comfort in something as simple as putting the scissors to the paper. But even better has been meeting a lot of people when working on my projects and workshops at home and abroad.
The last time I traveled was when I was in the USA in 2019. There were several trips in the calendar then, but then Corona came and put the world on pause – that stopped traveling with scissors.
After that, I started to do online workshops with American and Japanese participants. It’s not like holding a physical workshop. It’s something completely different, which I actually think works very fine. This has resulted in 40 online workshops over the past four years with American and Japanese participants.
But now it’s time to travel again.
In the autumn, two exhibitions await in Funabashi, Japan, and I will travel there to hold five paper-cutting workshops.
At the exhibitions, the Japanese audience will be able to experience paper cuts from the paper-cut universes I have created over the years.
Recently I sent a box to Japan with the 57 paper cuts that will be used for the two exhibitions.
I am looking very much forward to coming to Japan again 🙂
